Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for James H. Hazlett, who passed away early Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Jim was born December 21, 1927 in Youngstown, a son of the late James H. and Ethel (Kaltonbaugh) Hazlett.
Jim served in the United States Navy during World War II, and then served as a police officer for 33 years with the Austintown Police Department, including 17 years as chief. He retired in 1989 as a Captain with the department. Jim was a life member of the Lake Milton American Legion Post 737, a 50 year member of the Meander Lodge #765, and was a 32nd Degree Mason belonging to the Scottish Rite of Youngstown.
His wife the former Audrey Willock, whom he married September 24, 1948, passed away April 26, 2006.
Jim is survived by one son: James E. Hazlett of Canfield; one daughter Gail Faniro of Poland; and one grandson Ryan Hazlett.
Besides his parents and wife, Jim is preceded in death by two sisters: Esther Metrick and Ruth Bell and two brothers: William and George Hazlett.
Friends may call from 4 PM until 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Jim's name.
