Virginia "Ginny" Shaw, age 67, of Fowler Twp., died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at University Hospitals Of Cleveland. She was born on November 30, 1942, the daughter of Alton C. Madden and the late Virginia M. (Simko) Madden. Ginny was an active member of the Fowler United Methodist Church. She served as Chair Person on the Church Council, sang in the choir, served on the missions team and volunteered her time working in the church kitchen helping prepare dinners. Ginny was a member of the UMW and served on the Board of Trustees for the United Methodist Community Center of Warren and Youngstown. Ginny was also a member of the Fowler Fireman's Auxiliary. She worked as a school teacher for the Lakeview Local Schools prior to helping her husband work on their farm and operate his trucking company, Jack's Express. Her husband, John A. "Jack" Shaw Sr., whom she married on April 6, 1968, preceded her in death on April 2, 1990. She is survived by a son, John A. (Susan) Shaw Jr. of Fowler, daughter, Kristie Lynn Shaw of Cleveland, her father, Alton Madden of Boardman, sister, Joan (John) Schick of Mentor and two grandchildren, Marie Davison and John A. "Jay" Shaw III. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 5 PM - 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Fowler United Methodist Church at 11 am. The family will again receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Dugan Cemetery in Fowler. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Fowler United Methodist Church.
