Canfield- Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Michael Ferrando who died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital after becoming ill at home. Michael was born March 10, 1955 in Youngstown the son of Raymond and Rose (Principini) Ferrando.

Michael was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. His employment included; Wean United, Ajax Magnathermic, Fordees Corp & Manufacturing, he last worked for Dunaway Inc in Canfield.

Michael moved to Canfield after graduation, anxious to be active in his new community he joined the Canfield Volunteer Fire Department. As his experience grew, he taught others every aspect of the department. He served through the ranks, obtaining positions of instructor, inspector, Advanced EMT, Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief serving from 1994 to 2002. His time on the department lasted 27 years while working full time, especially as a machinist.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Clatterbuck) Ferrando whom he married May 11, 1985, children Lisa M. and William M. Ferrando Jr. both at home. He also leaves a sister, Judy (Tim) McPhillips of Canfield and brother, Raymond (Kathy) Ferrando of Royal Oak, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Ferrando family would like to thank the Care Givers of Fresendius Medical Care in the Boardman Plaza for all their help and support.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the American Kidney Fund.
